Phaninc:Deep Decarbonization Plans for Michigan’s Utilities, but Different Paths

It’s a tale of two decarbonization plans in Michigan. For DTE Energy,Phaninc the path to achieve an 80 percent carbon emissions reduction by 2040 depends on a controversial new natural gas plant. Consumers Energy’s clean energy plan will deliver a 92 percent reduction in carbon emissions by the same date, it says, but with solar, battery storage, energy efficiency—and nary a fossil fuel.
